March ARTreach
The Target Gallery and the March of Dimes are teaming up to raise money for both organizations with our 2nd annual exhibition fundraiser, March ARTreach. It will feature 200 panels of artwork each $150 (only $100 night of the Art Party), a free kids art activity on March 3rd, and the Art Party on March 16th featuring prizes, music, food, drinks, and more!

This two week exhibition is part of Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Children and the Arts, a statewide collaboration of artists, arts organizations, museums, and libraries to present thousands of performances, exhibitions, festivals, film screenings, and readings by, for, or about children and the arts.

Exhibition Details: March 3rd - 18th, 2012
This exhibit is open to all artists with the requirement that the work is created on 10x10 inch wood panels provided by the Target Gallery. During the exhibition, all of the panels will be for sale for $150 each, and only $100 at the night of the Art Party. Five of the panels will be" loaded" with prizes of two tickets each to a special Progressive Dinner Party hosted by Torpedo Factory artists in their studios on April 24th, (Scroll down for more details).


Kids Art Activity Details: March 3rd, 11am-1pm / FREE
Target Gallery & March of Dimes (MOD) hosts this free art activity for kids in the main hall of the Art Center. This will be used as a tool to help raise awareness for MOD’s annual “March for Babies” walk held in May 2012. Finished work will be included in a exhibition during the month of March in the public space of the art center.


Art Party Details: March 16th, 7-10pm / $15 advance or $20 at the door
The theme of the evening will have a pub-like atmosphere, to include games, pub faire, music, prizes and more! The money raised from this event and exhibition will benefit the March of Dimes & the Target Gallery's 2011 outreach programming.

This ticket not only gets you entrance to the party & 1 drink ticket, but also all of the below party festivities:

*Artwork
- 200 pieces of artwork – each only $100 (regularly $150, discounted to $100 for the night of the party)
*Prizes - 5 of the panels are loaded with tickets to a special dinner party at different artist studios on April 24th
*Raffle - Awesome raffle prizes donated by local businesses

*Wing-Off Competition
*Food & Drinks – wings, pizza, beer & more, provided by local businesses

About Target Gallery & March ARTreach
March ARTreach is an exhibition of approximately 200 10x10-inch works of art. Torpedo Factory and DC-area artists, as well as local high school students from TC Williams National Art Honor Society will create the artwork. It will be on display in the Target Gallery from March 3rd - 18th. All work will be for sale for $150 with 10% of all sales being donated to the March of Dimes. Panels will be on sale for $100 the night of the Art Party.

Progressive Dinner with Torpedo Factory Artists
Five of the artworks will be “loaded” with prizes of two tickets each to a special dinner party on April 24th. "What is a progressive dinner party?", you might be asking. It is a party where each successive course is eaten at a different host's house -- the guests progress from house to house, in this case from studio to studio through out the art center. Hence, the name progressive dinner party. Participating artists are Matthew Harwood, Laura Edwards and Susan Finsen, Susan Makara, and Alison Sigethy. Each course will be sponsored by a local restaurant or business, and guests will be invited to enjoy great food while talking with artists about their work!

Kids Art Activity - March 3rd, 11am to 1pm, FREE
March of Dimes will sponsor an art activity for kids whose families benefited from the March of Dimes as well as the public. This activity will be held at the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s main hall on March 3rd from 11am to 1pm. The March ARTreach Art Party, which will be held on March16th from 7-10pm, and will be a ticketed event. This party will be held at the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s main hall right outside of the Target Gallery. The theme of the evening will have a pub-like atmosphere, to include games, pub faire,music, prizes and more.

March of Dimes, a charity that is working to insure every baby is born healthy.
