So Yoon Lym was selected as our 2011 Open Exhibition winner. Out of 86 proposals, Lym was unanimously selected as this year’s winner. The artist will present a series of large photorealistic black and white acrylic paintings that depict her high school students’ different hair and braid styles using an aerial perspective.
Open Exhibition is an annual opportunity, selecting an artist for a solo show in the Target Gallery. A panel of three jurors selects the winning proposal and the gallery provides a catalog for the winning artist. This year's juror panel consisted of Tim Tate, DC-based artist and co-founder of the Washington Glass School, Danielle O'Steen, DC-based arts critic and curator, and Jacqueline Ionita, Director of Hamiltonian Gallery in Washington, DC.
