Fiberworks is one of the original founding studios at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Fiberworks' members create a wide variety of fiber or textile arts, both wearable and decorative.

• Silk hand dyed and painted scarves, jackets, and shawls
• Eco-friendly clothing and hats made from repurposed wool, cashmere and cotton
• Wool designer capes  
• Leather purses, art belts and jackets  
• Felted scarves, shawls, jewelry and purses  
• Crocheted neck decors and shawls  
• Unique jewelry  and art raincoats
• For the home, the studio's artists offer silk pillows, felted and handmade paper wall pieces.

I am a feltmaker, making wool felt from sheep wool using soap, water and bubble wrap and often combine wool with silk to make lightweight shawls and scarves without any sewing.

Saaraliisa Ylitalo (Fiber)

Saaraliisa has been working in the field of fiberarts for about 40 years.  She exhibits nationally and internationally and has lived and taught in Costa Rica, Japan, South Africa and Peru.  While living in Japan for five years she studied with a master papermaker.  Since that time her work incorporates her paper along with other fiber techniques.
