
The Torpedo Factory celebrates the 4th annual FotoWeek DC, a week-long celebration of photographic excellence in the greater Washington, DC area, with special events, exhibits, and free workshops.

Three Short Animation Films as part of the Alexandria Film Festival
During the Alexandria Film Festival, Target Gallery will be showing 3 short animation films. The three animations include Pennipotens (18min) directed by Heather Freeman based on a Flemish fairytale, White Caroline, Black Caroline, Mr. Atse’s in pursuit of an ascending career (6min) directed by M. Schendler, and BOT (4 minutes) directed by Mustafa Lazkani is about a world where all is good until a wicked 19th century scientist (Dr. Leonardo Van Uitvinding) brings evil.

Special Lecture & Reception with Transferred juror Regina Deluise
Multiple Exposures Gallery presents a special lecture by Regina Deluise, alternative process expert and juror for Target Gallery’s exhibition Transferred. A meet and greet reception in front of Site 3 Gallery will be held from 6-7pm followed at 7pm by a lecture with Regina Deluise in the main hall of the art center. Afterwards, visitors are encouraged to view three photography exhibitions: Both Sides of the Lens in Site 2 & 3 Galleries, Everything is Alternative in Multiple Exposures Gallery, and Transferred in Target Gallery.

2nd Thursday Art Night – Snap: FotoWeek DC
Browse open studios, interact with artists, and enjoy refreshments at this free monthly event! This month’s photo-centric Art Night includes the reception for Transferred in Target Gallery from 6-8pm, Alternative Process Photography Demonstrations by Multiple Exposures Gallery at 7pm, and DIY Button Making and a Fotobooth. Transferred: Alternative Processes in Photography
Reception: 2nd Thursday Art Night, November 10, 6-8pm, 7pm alternative processes demonstration
Transferred: Alternative Processes in Photography is a juried photography exhibition that focuses specifically on artists using alternative photography processes. The juror, Regina Deluise, is a photography professor with the Maryland Institute College of Art. Deluise is considered an expert in the field of alternative processes in photography. Join us on November 10th from 6-8pm for a reception to meet some of the artists and an alternative processes demonstration led by Multiple Exposures Gallery at 7pm.

Both Sides of the Lens: The Faces and Stories of DC Youth
Reception: 2nd Thursday Art Night, November 10, 6-8pm
This exhibition will showcase the work of DC youth that are part of Critical Exposure, an organization that teaches youth how to use the power of photography and their own voices to become effective advocates for school reform and social change. The students and their images have helped partnering organizations and campaigns secure more than $400 million in new funding for underfunded schools and facilities in DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. They have also worked to address other issues impacting youth, including job training opportunities, teen pregnancy, and DC’s dropout crisis.
