To begin a fiber assemblage, I first collect
a palette of fabrics and place the cut out shapes on a felt
wall. Section by section, pieces are sewn together, cut apart,
reassembled, moved around and sewn together. When the base
is complete, I once again collect of palette of colors, this
time consisting of glass and stone beads and begin to apply
the surface design.
The thought process involved in these
works and the corresponding manipulation of components enables
me to explore color, texture and movement using an array of
materials. My objective is to paint with fiber and draw with
lines of glass and stone. The final goal is to make the whole
more than the sum of its parts.
