Welcome to my website – and to my art! Many of my paintings and monotypes reflect my fascination with abstracting from real things. Others are a result of working directly from the canvas or etching plate without a preconceived idea of how they will turn out. I add color, line and texture and allow the piece to emerge. My art works are my artistic responses to my thoughts, feelings and reactions to the world.
I enjoy creating whimsical images and bright colors using acrylics on canvas or etching inks on paper. With many works I overlay one colors over another to create richness and depth. With others I pour paint onto a canvas to achieve immediacy.
I received a Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) and Master of Fine Art (MFA) degrees from the Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. While living for three years in Europe, I studied painting with artists in Germany, France, Italy and Hungary. My work has been exhibited in juried and other shows overseas and in the greater Washington, DC area. I am a resident artist in Studio #331 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA.
Enjoy my art and let me know if you have questions or comments. |
