Biography

Tatyana Schremko was born in China of Russian-Ukrainian parents, eventually arriving in the USA after several years in Eastern Europe and Germany. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, and received her Bachelor of Arts cum laude from George Washington University. She continued her studies of sculpture in various media with several independent artists, with a focus on foundry work in bronze. Exhibiting and selling in various galleries in the Washington DC area, she has also received commissions for works in private homes as well as portraitures. Her work has taken first place numerous times; she was included in the Slide Projection of World-Wide Modern Art exhibit at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.

Artist's Statement

My work is very much influenced by memories of people from every walk of life when thoughts are least observed, a moment of quiet. These sculptures are my most abstract work; their large size and clean lines are designed to focus on this emotional introspection. But my representational work is very much involved with capturing the essence and personality in the portrait.
