Beverly Ryan's paintings range from expressionistic figurative works to abstraction. Her work offers rich, painterly surfaces in oil, acrylic or encaustic on canvas, wooden panels or paper. Ryan works intuitively, developing the paintings through experimentation and layering and is known for her imaginative subject matter. The smallest paintings are 10" x 10" and the largest are currently 60" x 72".
Ryan holds a MS degree from Columbia University, NYC, NY; a BA degree from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA; has studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, NVCC and The Art League School.
Ryan teaches painting classes at The Art League School, Alexandria, VA – “Developing the Narrative”, “Abstract Oil and Acrylic Painting”, and workshops “Introduction to Encaustics”, “The Next Step in Encaustics”, and “Postmodern Figure Painting”. Ryan is also an adjunct professor in the Art Department at Montgomery College, Germantown, MD. |
