Beverly
Ryan's paintings
range from expressionistic figurative works to abstraction.
Her work offers rich, painterly surfaces in oil or encaustic
on canvas or wooden panels. Ryan works intuitively, developing
the paintings through experimentation and layering and is
known for her imaginative subject matter. The smallest paintings
are 10" x 10" and the largest are currently 60"
x 72".
Ryan holds a MS degree from Columbia University,
a BA degree from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster,
PA, and has studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design,
NVCC and The Art League School.
Ryan teaches several painting courses
at The Art League School, Alexandria, VA - "Developing
the Narrative", "Abstract Oil and Acrylic Painting",
"Survey of Creative Approaches", and an "Introduction
to Encaustics" workshop, as well as, a children's art
fundamentals course. Ryan is also an adjunct professor in
the Art Department at Montgomery College, Germantown, MD.
