A graduate of The Philadelphia College
of Art, Ms. Oerth is a prolific and prize-winning artist who
now teaches Intermediate Ceramics and Tile Making for The
Art League.
Her most recent commission, for a kitchen
backsplash, sized 3 x 6 feet, featured a scene of Tuscuny,
executed in overglazed enamels, since the customer wanted
a very painterly feel to the art work. Ms. Oerth favors commission
work because it allows her to incorporate her artistic vision
into a work that becomes part of the architecture of a room.
In addition to tile and mural work, she makes sculpture and
vessels. These pieces encompass her emphasis on surface design,
and recently she is exploring a new palette of brightly colored
glazes. In addition to ceramics, Ms. Oerth loves painting,
printmaking and collage.
She hopes for further opportunity to expand
her mural work into public spaces. Also she collaborates with
groups and organizations that want to create a mural under
her masterful technical and artistic supervision.
