Torpedo Factory Artist Of The Year 2012
I always work in a series. The inspiration for a series usually arrives unexpectedly. Whether spawned by a fantastical dream, a visually phenomenal moment, or some poignant statement, a series will bore itself deep into my psyche where it grows until I must deliver it on my easel. The ideas come from my imagination, visible only in my mind’s eye until I paint them.
Seeking an answer for that frequent question, “How long have you been painting?”, and unable to remember a time when I wasn’t, I asked my Mother. Without hesitation she said, “As soon as you could hold a pencil you started drawing.” I am a born artist.
Focusing on realism and fantasy, my work is currently created primarily in acrylic, oil, or scratchboard. Frequently I will incorporate texture, metallic leaf, or some other substance into the paintings. |
