Cindy Lowther currently works in
both 2-and 3-dimensions using a variety of materials such
as wire, steel and clay and processes such as weaving, welding
and handbuilding clay.
Drawing on her extensive weaving
background, Cindy creates two different simple weave structures
to play with texture, light, form, color and repetitive patterning.
When she weaves the opaque wire cloth, she is either playing
with repetitive patterning found in rugs or creating a strong
copper sheet that can be folded as in Japanese paperfolding.
When making the transparent cloth, her interest is in the
subtle organic shapes she can form and in the light play among
the gentle folds.
