Color is a major element in my acrylic landscapes, expressing the power of land in its wild state or rural best. Painting at chosen sites, whether in Virginia, Arizona or New Mexico, I detail trees and hills and explore the slope and character of the land. Expressive brushstrokes give life to the painting.
Layers of paint enrich the surface adding depth of color and dimension to the composition. I like nature’s tangles as well as flowers and leafy bounty, It’s a visual story not always tidy and sweet. References to humanity are rare, excepting the occasional road or fence. Nature is not scenery, but a force in which all are a part.
