For Francine B. Livaditis, often seen,
but frequently overlooked, fragments of our surroundings come
into focus through her camera's long telephoto lens. In order
to cut through the visual clutter, Livaditis packs her viewfinder
with the compositional elements of color, line and form. She
exposes the beauty that hides in plain sight and controls
the entire process of taking her photographs from capture
to print in her Torpedo Factory Art Center Studio.
This fine art photographer currently specializes
in large architectural abstract images. She took the photographs
shown here in Las Vegas, Nevada. Livaditis has also captured
architectural and industrial details in grand Washington,
DC area buildings such as the Pension Building (National Building
Museum), Reagan National Airport, the Franciscan Monastery
and the Center for Innovative Technology.
Three colorful large-scale Las Vegas Strip
abstracts are currently hanging at Reagan National Airport
near Delta's gates 10-14 and may be viewed from a glass-walled
walkway connecting the new and old terminal buildings. Five
of Livaditis' black and white photographs were used as set
design in the Hallmark film Cupid & Cate. Her work is
held by the Washington Convention Tourism Corporation, Washington,
DC; the State of Florida; McGraw Hill, New York, NY; TK Properties,
Alexandria, VA; CableReps, Fairfax, VA; Pittiglio Rabin Todd
& McGrath, Washington, DC; the National Building Museum,
Washington, DC; the Franciscan Monastery, Washington, DC;
and can be found in private collections worldwide. Livaditis
has done commissions for local municipalities and the Greater
Reston Arts Center, Reston, VA.
Livaditis sells her framed prints in sizes
up to 65"x44" for prices of up to $3000; loose prints
are also available.
