I am a fine art photographer and
teacher. I photograph in a documentary style. My first major
portfolio was a "Colloquy: Mothers and Daughters".
The images began with adolescents and their mothers then older
daughters and their elderly mothers and finally culminated
with mother/daughter generation photographs. All my work uses
black and white film, a variety of medium format cameras and
is traditionally and archivally printed in the wet darkroom
resulting in silver gelatin prints.
Subsequent travel and work has resulted
in portfolios from Honduras, Bulgaria, Uganda, Kenya and most
recently, Cuba. Four trips to the island of Cuba beginning
in 2000 has resulted in several portfolios - "Women in
Cuba", "Rural and City Life" and "Time
Stopped".
I am interested in observing people, their
rituals, habits and everyday
life. I am interested in peoples' lives
.their families,
relation-ships and working experiences. I work slowly observing
the ordinary moments knowing that there is the inherent possibility
that these moments are extraordinary.
Matted 14"x14" prints
are $300; framed $350.
