My work has evolved
from clean polished work, to mechanical work and to work that
is a kind of translation. From free drawing with no beginning
concept, or sketches of leaves or stones, to concepts like
imperfection or darkness, the end result is the translation
of what is in my sketchbook. I have to look at where my drawings
are taking me. Then I build it in metal. I use a lot texture
and line because this is kind of how the world visually breaks
down to me. Look at bark. Look at shadows. Look at rust; so
much information in these most common objects.
I graduated from Rochester Institute of
Technology with a BFA in 1992 and currently maintain a studio
at the Torpedo Factory Arts Center in Alexandria Virginia.
I participate in fine art and craft shows and am represented
by select galleries. The scope of my work includes commissions
such as commitment bands, corporate awards, one-of-a-kind
and limited production jewelry, flatware and small sculpture.
