Artist Bio:
Matthew Tito Cuenca is a product of a multi-cultural, multi-racial,
multi-religious household. He spent his childhood living evenly
between Chicago, IL and Jacksonville, FL. At the age of 17
he moved to New York City and studied at Parsons School of
Design where he received a BFA in 1991. He has also continued
art-related studies at Cooper Union for architectural illustration
and at the Art Students League of New York for sculpture.
After graduation from Parsons he began
a 15-year career in fashion as a clothing designer for notable
design companies such as Oleg Cassini and Bill Blass. Although
immersed in the fashion industry, he continued to moonlight
as a freelance artist for numerous publishing companies, which
included Harper Collins Trophy and Moody Publishing. By Spring
2000, he added the role of Associate Professor at the Fashion
Institute of Technology to his workload. In the aftermath
of 9/11, Matthew decided to move to Paris where he rekindled
his passion for art began the next phase of his life as a
full-time Fine Artist. Currently he resides in Alexandria,
VA.
Matthew's artwork has been exhibited in
several invitational and one person shows throughout North
America, Europe and South East Asia. In addition to his Fine
Art work, Matthew's commercial art can be found in various
periodicals, children's books and RPG game manuals. He is
a member of TFAC, Del Ray Artisans, the Art League, Society
of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators, and the Society
of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists.
The Work:
Most of Matthew's paintings are oil paint on multi-paneled
or sculpted canvas, but he also takes commissions for oil,
acrylic or watercolor paint on traditional "flat"
stretched canvas or wood panel.
Prices range from approximately $50 (5"
x 5" oil on panel) to $14,000 (96" x 120" oil
on sculpted canvas) for non-commissioned work. Please see
