Solveig Cox has been a potter for
more than forty years. She was born in New York City where
she attended a school where art was taught every day. Her
mother and aunt were both artists, so for her it was a question
of what material she would use. She attended Bennington College
and started working with a potter's wheel. From the beginning,
clay has been her medium to express her ideas about women
and, for the past 20 years, about cats. Color and pattern
are also very much part of her work. By attending a trade
show once a year, her work is distributed to about a hundred
galleries and shops across the United States.
