Mirella Monti Belshé was
born and nurtured in Tuscany, Italy. She completed her education
with Master of Art History and Master of Fine Arts degrees
at the University of Hawaii where she became a tenured Assistant
Professor.
In the last 33 years she has had a studio
in the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The work fabricated in
her studio is done in many media and is both two and three
dimensional. She also works in Italy at Pietrasanta and Firenze
where, with the aid of master craftsmen, models can become
bronze or marble pieces and then return to the studio where
they originated. Two series currently underway in her studio
are Altered Books and Meaningful Rolling Pins.
Mirella has completed several private
and public commissions. Her purchased work has been collected
and exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad,
including embassies, museums, airports, libraries, commercial
spaces, and private residences.
