The Friends
of the Torpedo Factory Art Center (Friends) is
a nonprofit membership organization presenting a variety
of arts-related programs and events in collaboration
with the Torpedo Factory Art Center, one of Alexandria’s
best resources for the arts.
Through
your support, the Friends help make art an integral
part of the community. We do this by sponsoring
programs and events that both bring art to the community
and connect the community to art.

| Bringing Art to the Community
|
|
The Friends' mentorship
program matches high school art students with Torpedo
Factory artists, an extraordinary opportunity which
culminates in a student art exhibition in the Torpedo
Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery;
Along with the Retired
and Senior Volunteer Program and the Alexandria Commission
on Aging, the Friends co-sponsor the annual Young
at Art Show held at the Campagna Center;
“Art at the Courthouse”
showcases art at the City of Alexandria Juvenile Court;
and
“Art at the Airport”
extends the reach of the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s
vibrant arts community by bringing artwork from the
Torpedo Factory artists to the Reagan National Airport,
exposing visitors to the Factory

The Friends’ Guest
Lecture Series brings accomplished speakers to the
Torpedo Factory Art Center.
The Friends’ Artist
of the Year program, under which the community recognizes
artistic achievements of Factory artists
|

Special invitations to
sneak preview receptions at the Torpedo Factory’s
Target Gallery, the national exhibition space of the
Torpedo Factory Art Center.
Invitations to all of the
artists’ events at the Torpedo Factory Art Center,
where a Friends Board member will be on hand at each
event introduce you to the artists and show thanks
for your support and generosity.
Certain member packages
receive a 10% discount on purchases from the Target
Gallery and the Torpedo Factory Information Center
(see membership form for details).

The
Torpedo Factory Art Center is operated by the Torpedo Factory Artists'
Association. This organization should not be confused with the Friends
of the Torpedo Factory Art Center. These two organizations are separate
and distinct. They are controlled by two totally independent boards
of directors with different policies, procedures and goals.
